Canadian retirement projections for your app or agent.
Glacier Planner is a Canadian retirement-planning engine. It projects savings, CPP/QPP, OAS, pensions, tax, withdrawals and estate year by year, using federal and provincial rules. The engine computes every number. Your code or assistant supplies explicit inputs and explains the result.
The free public calculator is enabled, subject to the supported scope, request limits and service readiness. No account, API key, token or payment is needed.
Two ways in
| Access | Public calculator | Saved plans |
|---|---|---|
| Endpoint | POST /api/calculateMCP /calculate/mcp | MCP /mcp |
| Sign-in | No account, API key or token | OAuth in the person’s browser |
| Financial inputs | Not saved by the public calculator. The caller keeps the returned input artifact. | Saved in the person’s Glacier account, under their permissions |
| Scope | One or two people, basic income, savings, pensions, CPP/QPP and OAS | Supported full-planner tools under account permissions and feature access |
| Limits | A bounded public allowance; an explicit alternative uses two calculation units | Plan access and normal request limits |
HTTP calls are made server-side. Browser requests from arbitrary origins are refused with 403 invalid_origin. Your caller or AI host may retain the information it sends or receives.
Quickstart over HTTP
- Read the live contract, input schema and supported scope.
curl -fsS 'https://planner.glacierfinancial.ca/api/calculate' - Download a made-up example. It has
assumptionsAccepted:falseand must fail calculation as downloaded.
Inspect the worked example ↗curl -fsS 'https://planner.glacierfinancial.ca/guides/retire-at-63-or-65-canada/template.json' -o glacier-example.json - Review the inputs and assumptions with the person. Only after explicit confirmation, create
confirmed-request.jsoncontaining exactly{"input": <reviewed input>}, withassumptionsAccepted:true. Send that file when calculation is available.curl --fail-with-body -sS 'https://planner.glacierfinancial.ca/api/calculate' -H 'Content-Type: application/json' --data-binary @confirmed-request.json
The example household is made up. It is a demonstration, never a person’s plan. Ask for missing facts and explicit confirmation; never accept assumptions on someone’s behalf.
Connect an MCP client
For the same public calculation and scope, connect to:
https://planner.glacierfinancial.ca/calculate/mcpDiscover the tools, then call calculate_retirement with {"input": ...}. Read the live input schema and obtain confirmation first.
For saved household work, use the separate OAuth connection:
https://planner.glacierfinancial.ca/mcpSetup steps for each assistant ↗. Test your actual client. Protocol support alone does not guarantee a hosted assistant will connect.
Install the agent skill
npx skills add marcpineault/glacier-planner-agentsReview the public documentation repository ↗ and choose your supported agent and installation location. Installation adds instructions; it does not connect an account, confirm assumptions or enable payment.
Read the scope before using a result
The public first calculation covers a basic household. Property, debts, corporations, children, LIRA/LIF and planned extra contributions are excluded. GIS, Allowance and refundable benefit payments are not included; missing benefits can make a projected shortfall look larger. Other exclusions and assumptions are listed in the live contract.
Results include annual figures, assumptions, the engine version, tax-rate fingerprint and a portable input artifact. Saved-result comparisons retain the dates and rules used for each stored calculation.
